Danny Boy (the melody known as Londonderry Air), was first published, without a title, in Dublin in 1855 and is perhaps the most famous Irish folk song. However the history remains a mystery. There are claims it came from a piper and the words were written by an English lawyer who never set foot in Ireland. Starts simply and grows wonderfully.
