A beautiful three part song for children

This beautiful tune flows gently. It is designed in three parts, but the tune isn’t too tricky, so it is easily accessible and very effective. Perfect as part of a Christmas Concert. Designed for Key Stage 2, but accessible for younger singers (especially if you have a mixed age group, as you can give them the Group 1 part).

This song is written for Key Stages 1 and 2 with these purposes in mind.

1. It should be enjoyable enough for the children to want to sing it.2. It includes some part singing which should be easily accessible to all children.

Teaching notes

When you start this song, don’t attempt to tackle the second and third parts straight away. Once the children are confident with the tune and words from verse one, teach them the second and third vocal lines as if they are second and third verses of a song.Don’t try to fit them together yet – just learn the words and the different tunes.Again, once you feel confident, split the children into thee groups (ideally with an adult leading each group) and sing the parts together. Part singing is good to tackle in large groups, so perhaps combining classes in school would be a good idea.
